Counseling

Sometimes simply having an objective ear to help you sort out all the thoughts and worries you are having, can be a great relief. Even better, if the person listening has a wise understanding of human nature, the reason for unsteady emotions and challenging relationships, then the troubles you carry can be set down and finally released. Freedom is the goal when you go to a professional counselor. You are heard, you receive feedback and your direction is clarified, so you can move forward in your life, creating the kind of life you desire.

Couples Counseling can help clarify what you both want for yourselves, as well as in the relationship. There is an effort to recognize and manage, or reconcile, troublesome differences and repeating patterns of distress.

Before a relationship between individuals can begin to be understood, it is important to recognize and acknowledge that each person, including the counselor, has a unique personality, perception, set of values and history. Individuals in the relationship may adhere to different and unexamined value systems which shape a person’s nature and behavior, and these are considered in the process of counseling and therapy.

Most relationships will get strained at some time, resulting in their not functioning optimally and producing self-reinforcing, unhealthy patterns. There are many possible reasons for this, including insecurities, arrogance, jealousy, anger, greed, poor communication, misunderstanding or problem solving issues.

The goal of couples counseling is to help bring all these things out into the light so decisions can be made and healthy relationship patterns can be created.
